Make a Happiness List
Up until today I would just open the book and wherever it fell was my posting for the day. Today I went looking through the table of contents, in search of a post that would help me, with my interview for next week moved up 2 days I felt a wave of nervousness come over me - what if I can't do it? What if I miss Matt too much? What if the dog dies while I am gone? well the book didn't help me much because its focus is happiness not anti-anxiety techniques, but I thought this might be a good idea for this weekend as I try to wrap my mind around the changes that might be coming.
As always: Todays post from a book I have called Better Than Chocolate - 50 Proven ways to feel Happier (purchase it here), by Siimon Reynolds.
When I heard of this technique I was struck by its simplicity. High-perforamcne expert Fred Grosse recommends his students write a list of all the activities they love doing. It could be anything from walking on a beach at sunset to having a long soak in the bath.
Make such a list for yourself. Then, at the beginning of each week, schedule at least one of those activities in your diary every day. Allocate a specific time for it to ensure you'll make it happen. With this simple system, your life soon becomes filled with many more enjoyable, happy moments. Just as important, this technique forces you to be more conscious of your happiness and make it a top priority.

You will rock the interview I know it... :) and by the way, just becuase you interview does not mean that you HAVE to take the offer...
thanks Ali! I keep telling myself too! matt told me I could get all the way to the end of the interview process and still tell them no if it didn't feel right... i always feel bad doing that but I have to remember they would rather have me do that then have a bad fit...
of course I think of all the wonderful things this experience is going to give me and i feel better!
funny that Melissa gave me that picture of a paris city street for the gaggle christmas party! I have had it on my desk at work - it was almost like a sign.
So you'll have to show me your happiness list...maybe I can copy off of it.
