Who's the hardest person to shop for on your holiday list?
My father - he never wants anything
if you are wondering who you are voting for in the next election or are wondering what cause you should get behind let the silly arguements of the supreme court and the EPA be your guide.
I love the anaolgy to a 4 year old - seriously aren't we adults?
The state of green in Magazines:
Slate had an interesting article today on if the color green in death for magazine covers. For the past several years I have been interested in color theory and what affect, if any, certain colors have on us. For example, it is popularly held that if you want someone to take a risk or buy something from you, you should wear the color red as it more often than not evokes the person view it to be more risky. This article is talking about how the color green in print materials often crosses the line into something that resembles baby poo. I disagree and often find myself attracted to a green cover. Maybe it is my green attitude or my love of things that look fresh. They say yellow on the web doesn't play well but Lance Armstrong seems to pull it off: Green is death
Again with the economics
Slate had an article today on the economics of NOW and how if posed with a choice people would always rather have something now than something bigger or better later. I wonder if its our reptilian brains telling us that there might not be a later for us so we might as well take what we can get NOW:
Do you hate junk mail? - Greendimes to the rescue
Of course you do, we all do, and do you know who hates it worst of all??? The planet because we are polluting mother earth each and every day with the junk we are putting in our landfills. I can count on ONE HAND the number of people who actually recycle all that stuff so I know you are throwing it away! Now, for the cost of one less Starbucks a month you can pay this company to get you off the list AND plant 12 trees for you - come now - you can give up one coffee a month!
Use Less Stuff This Holiday Season
The holiday season has become too commercialized. And if that wasn't enough for me the commercialization is killing the planet. The paper, the cards, the bullshit stuff that just gets thrown way. Never have lists of tips and tricks been more important to me than in my quest to save the planet - everyone can find at least one (and I am hoping at least a dozen) ways to save the planet - start here: save now!
I have a miniature village that I set up each year. Last year I swapped out my village for an oceanside theme in honor of my move to maine - I think I have gotten some great shots of them check it here:
