Today was the Christmas Pageant at my sisters church so Matt and I went and sat in the balcony, sang some Christmas carols and acted as photography snipers looking for some shots of the event. This year Hailey and Riley were both in it and I think they spent more time chatting with each other than acting Angelic:) Thats the little angels in the center of the stage sitting down listening to the story
This was Riley's first time in anything like this so we got alot of this:
But they both looked super cute...
There are times as a photographer when you know you just got it - that picture that you think sums up the day. After I shot this Matt and I both looked at it and said this was the one. Riley running with her angel wings just summed up the morning.
the last picture taking event was a party I went to on sunday night. THe light was low but I had my tripod and most of the subjects were not moving so they came out really cool I think. I did take some pictures of the people opening their secret santa gifts but they are blurry - and that was on purpose to show the movement of htese people...
i posted all of these in my photo gallery so they could order prints if they wanted - you can view it here:
day 2 I had an easier subject - a 3 month old baby. I had alot of natural light in the apartment but she is a bit wobbly so I turned up the ISO a bit. I think these pics came out better than the last set I took of her and some are really cute. I didn't have to take near so many to get a set I liked, I think I ended up with around 100 and had a final set of 30 or so that I am sending to her. She chose her christmas picture already:
Christmas is fast approaching and with it comes a slew of photography gigs. Saturday I had my nieces and they were by far the hardest. Maybe b/c I am their aunt and they know there is a bit more flexibility, maybe its just their ages but I could not get a series of clear shots. It turned into a battle with low ISO. I am a hard head and I like to take things with no flash and low ISO. Of course this requires good light and no of movement. I had lots of light but with 2 kids (ages 2 and 4) I didn't have stillness. What resulted was 65 pictures of which only 5 have both kids still. Fortunately, Kim was able to decide on one and I learned that I can't have it both ways - low ISO and no flash. Considering I really don't want to use Flash I increased the ISO for day 2....
