I posted some of the images from our Chicago trip in a slide show you can view here
These are just Chicago and I left out Milwaukee because there was some
great architectural photography there that I want to put into a
separate show. The show has music so adjust your volume accordingly! Of course the
pictures may not mean much without me telling you what they all are but
my photo album will have all of that at some point
In any case enjoy!
Last night when Matt and I got in bed and shut the light off, after a long day of Fantasy Football drafting, he asked me to rub his hands - he likes me to do that because his hands get so stiff. So I asked for his hand and he gave it to me and these guys were on his fingers! I let out a scream because in the dark and without my glasses on it looked like Matt had glow in the dark slime running down his fingers!
I LOVE THEM! It no secret I love finger puppets and there the gift Matt gave me on Valentine's day! He is the best boyfriend...
I especially love the girl in the middle because she is holding a brain:)
This is the third time I Have started this post and something keeps going wrong an embedding my flickr page into the post. I frankly no longer have the patience for this.
Matt and I went up to Blue Hill to visit his grandparents in early August. The trip was great, I loved the area and his family and was sad to leave. The only bad part about the trip was I have somehow managed to lose or delete all of the images that Matt took while we were there! I am sorry Matt - I will make it up to you!
We started our first day communing with nature.
Then we went down to a little water area park type thing and spent some quiet time there. This is where Matt spent a good chunk of time chasing a butterfly to photograph it and now he has nothing to show for his efforts!
We went down to a wharf area that I particularly liked. There we saw this barn:
and this guy painting watercolors
and we stopped at this general store to get a Diet Coke because this was my first weekend without coffee (baby steps people).
His grandmother has lots of the pottery that Matt loves and I was able to snap some pictures while we were alone one
afternoon!
We had a wonderful breakfast with Matt's aunt Belinda and her daughter Mary the day we left, no pictures from that event, although I wish we had taken some! Belinda's house is just about perfect and the whole family was just great. I am already looking forward to our next trip!
Matt has been able to harvest food out of the garden every day he has been over and what has resulted in a huge pile of fresh vegetables in the entryway that we are eating our way through. Its good to come home every night and have something fresh to eat right outside your door!
Last night he picked a bucket full of cheery tomatoes so today I am having some for lunch...
I cleaned them off at home - don't they look gorgeous!
Matt planted several Sungold Cheery Tomaso plants and they are giving me tomatoes in my favorite color - orange!
I tried to capture some of the boat in black and white but I am not sure it does it justice:
Finding and shooting the boat actually turned out perfect. Later on in the day we stopped by the Gallery of Terrell Lester where I fell in love with this photo:
I borrowed this from his website and it honestly doesn't do it justice - its just beautiful and printed using the Giclee method. Its $1200 and I promised Matt if he ever gave it to me I would paint the entire interior of my house white just to match it (I may live to regret that).
But I am hoping that I can create a nice DIY substitue using the image of the boat. If I add a bit of a glow to it I might just get it close! Its not sitting on the water but I really like a monochromatic image with very little saturation - we will see!
More pictures of Blue Hill to come! Enjoy your weekend!
Yesterday Matt and I had our 7 month anniversary. I figured he was still searching for something to give me so I didn't get him anything (as usual I know what it is I just haven't picked it up yet) but when I got home last night this was waiting for me!
Month 7 is Wool or Copper and Matt picked Copper! and got me a 5qt saucier that goes with my existing collection. YAY! Now I can roast some veggies good!
I didn't post anything this week, after the large hurdle we got over last weekend with the floor I took some much needed time off this week from things I have to do... but now its time to get serious again.
The house is moving along nicely and the kitchen is put back together. He is now working on the sanding and taping of the living room and we will be ready to paint no later than Sunday the 20th, which means I could be back in the living room, electricity and all by August 1st! I think that was our goal.
While we have been busy in the house Matt has been busy in the garden. Right before I had to send back the fisheye and 100mm lenses (*sniff) I grabbed some shots of what we are growing.
Here is the garden in its entirety - the only thing you can't see is the pumpkins:
Here I am just inside the fence watching Matt water our cauliflower:
Here I am on the other side.
Here is my matty getting some water for our veggies!
Its hard to tell what stuff is because its all just green, lets get closer!
Tomatoes:
Looking down the row of tomatoes
Thats my shadow!
Here is some lettuce, we had this for dinner last night
And some onions but they aren't even close
This is the whole area of lettuce and peppers, and matt hauling water
We also had squash last night, those plants are growing like crazy and I bet we start having squash a couple of nights a week now
We are also going to have zucchini very very soon
Corn is on its way up but I don't think we have that til August
And the potatoes have flowers and they will die in the fall, that is how we know to dig them up
These are my sunflowers! Thanks to Matt's fence I might actually see them bloom this year!
Well I hope you have enjoyed the tour of the garden, you will see another house post maybe in the middle of this week and I might actually shoot some images for fun this weekend!
Tomorrow Matt and I celebrate our 6 month anniversary and the gift this month is IRON!
I GOT THE MOST PERFECTIST GIFT IN THE ENTIRE WORLD! I couldn't even photograph it ahead of time because the company it came from had it wrapped so perfectly... but I can tell you it was made in Japan.
Matt loves Japan. I love squares and worms and anything miniature and Matt loves Japan - thats how we do it in this relationship. We don't love the same things but we love each other and that is what counts and what makes it work.
I can't wait to show you what is in the box, but that will have to wait until tomorrow :)
